Monarch Trail meeting ~ Plan/Organize/Volunteer
The Friends of the Monarch Trail are delighted to invite you to a brainstorming session.
Thursday, April 18th, at 6pm
Location: Barb and Dick’s Wildflower Shop-
12326 W Watertown Plank Rd.,
Wauwatosa
Everyone is welcome!
Refreshments available
As Earth Day approaches, this is a great way to be involved and help the monarchs at the same time!
Our meeting will include:
Good at organizing events? We need you!
Here are some details on our annual events:
1) June ~ Milkweed Plant Sale
Help with selling a variety of milkweeds plants, nectar plants, and other items to support the Friends of the Monarch Trail. Help with location, set up, promotion, table sales people, décor etc.
2) July ~ Planting Party
Help transplant next year's crop of milkweed from seedlings into individual cups:
This will take place at Barb and Dick’s Wildflower, 124th & Watertown Plank Rd.
We always have a lot of fun and plant between 600 and 1000 plugs each year. Help needed with promotion of this event, materials, set up and LOTS of dirt! There is access to water, restrooms and air conditioning if needed.
3) Late August ~ Annual Blue Moon & Migration Kick-
Help plan and coordinate our grand event of the year. Last year’s event drew 200 people out to enjoy the monarchs, learn about the migration and history of the Monarch Trail. This year, we will need added volunteers to rework the Trail, determine a location accessible to all, help provide tables and equipment, and create a new “picnic” area that will accommodate our displays similar to our past Trail head.
Interested in working on the Habitat and Trail throughout the summer?
Join our Onsite/Ongoing Work Group! We coordinate this work with UWM, and will schedule work time when it is safe, and away from construction. We will plant plugs, nectar and milkweed plants.
If you cannot attend Thursday, April 18, please tell us what areas you would like to get involved with. We value your input and would love to hear from you!
Thank you all,
Barb Agnew
